Argh, ye matey!
http://teamhadjes.com/archive/blog/index.php?entry=entry050926-141404
A group of clowns are approaching, some are on stilts. Here comes some floats now with confetti and candy flying to the crowds. What's this? Is that the pirate ship of Captain Hook? Why yes it is- peter pan and tinkerbell are aboard.
But wait! Who are those two pirates? My, my they look familiar............here lets take a closer look.
Yep thats right :) Elias and Hannah were Captain Hooks pirates in today's parade. El capitan was played by their now good friend Jose Manuel (you might remember him from the 'egg fountain' pics). They thoroughly enjoyed waving to the crowds and throwing confetti. It was a very long day for everyone as we followed the float literally from one end of town to the other and back, but ice cream cones were enjoyed by all to beat the heat of the day. The float was built by friends we have made here in town and won 2nd place for the competition. Follow the link to see some more pics of the excitement!

Read more about cascamorras here, but beware, it will be in Spanish. I wasn't able to find an English link, so if you're not up to reading Spanish, then just ask me about it sometime.
Also, be sure to check out my cascamorras photos here. ]]>Take time to smell the flowers

Happy Anniversary to us! On September 4th, Eddie and Sarah celebrated 6yrs of marriage. We can't thank God enough for the blessings from His hands and the amazing ways He has grown our family spiritually and numerically :) After 7yrs in pursuit of this time in Spain, we also feel especially blessed to be celebrating this year in Baza.]]>Church with a View
http://teamhadjes.com/archive/blog/index.php?entry=entry050917-115440
Take in the beauty of creation as we have church in the countryside this Sunday. This service was such a blessing to be able to be a part of as we celebrated the new life of two believers in the church with their baptisms. Singing echoed through the valley as we sat under the canopy. We finished the service with a potluck Spanish style- many fun dishes to try.

http://teamhadjes.com/archive/blog/index.php?entry=entry050909-154822
Welcome to the party! Please accept this name tag with your Hawaiian name and a flower lei, listen to the island tunes filling the room with their song and make your way to the patio. Don't let the melon fish bowl bite your hand as you have some fruit salad and feel free to visit with friends as you stand in line at the Bar-b-q for more pineapple marinated kebabs. There is lots to do and much to enjoy. Sarah will be teaching you 'shark attack', did you bring your singing voice and dancing feet? Musical beach towels anyone? Or how about a large slice of decadent coconut cake or pineapple upside down cake?
Thanks for coming and enjoying the night with us. It was definitely work for Sarah and Kristi to create this island paradise. It required a lot of brainstorming and creative thinking considering we were not able to collect supplies before coming here. A good internet connection with printer and coloring pens and a full day of cooking and we had party worthy of the title 'luau'!

http://teamhadjes.com/archive/blog/index.php?entry=entry050907-161501
At the end of a hot day, on a cool starry night, we were hosted by this sweet couple for dinner. Estafania does beautiful work with clay and Sarah enjoyed touring the work room for her art. Manolo is a highschool teacher in a local neighboring town. A beautiful view and good food was enjoyed by all but more than that it was the incredible contection of friendship that was made. Enjoyable conversation lingered from the apartment to the terrace, down into the park and followed us all the way home into the deep hours of the night. We look forward to much more time with this couple.

The wood table that you will see with bowls of vegetables in it is from the grandmother of the family and was once used to hold large clay jars for water.
It was a special evening, with good food and worship into the night.]]>Happy Birthday to Eddie!

In the evening we joined some spanish friends for dinner in their top floor apartment that overlooks the city. We were treated to many spanish delicacies, including mussels and tortilla de patata, yummy! Eddie was able to get their telescope functioning and everyone enjoyed viewing the craters of the moon.

Sarah had to sweep sand up around the house for a good week but it was worth it.
